Technical guide for initial assessment. Every installation needs validation of its own data.

Separate the process from people

Ozone is generated to react inside a designed circuit or enclosure. A release into working air can irritate eyes and the respiratory tract; NIOSH identifies inhalation and occupational exposure hazards. An installation should therefore assess where gas could escape during operation, maintenance or failure.

Layers of protection

Measures depend on the site: compatible connections and materials, ventilation, off-gas handling, ambient monitoring where appropriate and interlocks. Loss of water flow, ventilation or feed gas should trigger a defined safe response. Operators need startup, shutdown and maintenance procedures.

Measurement and documentation

Safety cannot be verified by the absence of odor alone. Define monitoring points, calibration, alarms and response actions. Manufacturer instructions, safety data sheets, the site risk assessment and applicable rules guide the final design. Foreign exposure recommendations do not replace Dominican Republic requirements.

What to request from a supplier

Ask for a process and instrumentation diagram, potential release points, off-gas destination, shutdown logic, maintenance plan and training. The assessment should also address room access and alarm response. A safe system is designed, documented and checked during commissioning.
