Agriculture and aquaculture
Ozone use in irrigation or aquaculture requires careful understanding of the water, living organisms and treatment point.

The application
Irrigation may aim to limit biofilm and protect emitters. A greenhouse may reuse drainage. Aquaculture aims to control water without exposing animals to residual oxidants. These designs should not be combined into one recipe.
Water quality, salinity, nutrients, species and return point determine where ozone is generated, mixed and removed.
Treatment options
Oxidation is placed in a treatment loop and water is checked before return to roots, fish or shellfish.
These have different hydraulics. Injection and contact follow clogging, biofilm and source-water conditions.
Contact is separated from tanks and biofilters; residual is removed before return.
Bromide can form secondary oxidants. These need monitoring and conservative species-specific design.

Distinguish irrigation-line protection, drainage reuse and treatment before water returns to aquatic species.
Recirculated irrigation water can carry organics and biofilm toward emitters and roots. Ozone is assessed in a controlled loop to improve water without exposing crops to residual oxidant.
Assess source, nutrients, drainage, filters, salinity and materials. Inject where mixing and contact are adequate; check residual compatibility before returning water to crops.
How to verify: Measure emitter blockage, water quality, microbiology and crop condition during a pilot.
Read application →Treatment can be placed in a line, recirculating tank or pond depending on the problem: biofilm, clogging, poor source water or long storage.
A small tank and an irrigation network have very different hydraulics. Study flow, residence time, filtration, mixing, ozone demand and compatibility with crops and other inputs.
How to verify: Compare line pressure and clogging, water quality and agronomic outcomes without attributing every change to ozone.
Read application →Ozonated water is prepared near the sprayer and applied under an agronomic protocol. Suitability depends on crop, disease pressure and application conditions.
Review tank volume, nozzle flow, time between generation and spraying, coverage, weather and equipment compatibility. Trial on a small area before changing a crop-protection program.
How to verify: Record concentration at application, phytotoxicity, disease pressure and outcomes against comparable plots.
In recirculating systems, ozone can treat a separate stream to reduce organic loading and improve clarity without harmful residual reaching fish.
Consider species, biomass, feeding, biofilter, skimmer and recirculation. Contact and gas or residual removal must occur before water returns to animals; monitoring remains continuous.
How to verify: Measure turbidity, organics, microbiology and animal-welfare indicators around treatment.
Read application →Seawater ozonation needs special caution: reaction with bromide can form secondary oxidants that persist after ozone disappears.
Apply treatment in a separate stream with contact and residual removal before water returns to livestock. Specify species, salinity, water chemistry, monitoring and automatic response to out-of-range readings.
How to verify: Alongside clarity and organic load, measure relevant residual oxidants and observe animal response.
Read application →Treatment of depuration water can support facility hygiene, provided water reaching shellfish meets biological and residual criteria.
Review flow, depuration time, filtration, salinity, species and injection point. Keep oxidation separate from animal tanks when needed and check byproducts.
How to verify: Validate microbiological indicators and water quality under the facility protocol.

Decision criteria
In aquaculture, treated water returns to a living system. The application point, contact and water before return must be evaluated. Irrigation needs review of source, storage and network materials.
Define a water quality goal first, then tests and controls compatible with the crop or species. We do not promise a universal dose or production increase without data from the actual system.
